At Jackson Square Animal Clinic, we take the time to listen, build trust, and provide thoughtful care tailored to your pet’s unique needs, creating a supportive experience for both pets and their people.
Jackson Square Animal Clinic is an animal hospital in Oak Ridge, TN where care feels personal and every visit is grounded in trust. We believe strong relationships lead to better medicine and care, for pets and the people who love them.
Since opening our doors in 1998, we’ve focused on thoughtful, relationship-based care. We take time to listen, explain options clearly, and help you make informed decisions that feel right for your pet and your family. Our approach is steady, supportive, and centered on long-term well-being.
We care for dogs, cats, and a variety of exotics and pocket pets, bringing patience and attention to every appointment. Preventive care plays a key role in how we practice (especially dental health) because protecting your pet’s comfort and quality of life matters at every age. From your first visit to the years that follow, our goal is for you to feel welcomed, understood, and confident in the care your pet receives.
Physical exams, vaccines, parasite prevention, and lifestyle guidance for dogs, cats, and exotic pets help catch concerns early and support long-term health.
Professional teeth cleanings, extractions, and oral health care for dogs, cats, and select exotic pets offer comfort, prevent disease, and support overall wellness.
From routine spays and neuters to soft tissue procedures, we provide careful surgical care for dogs, cats, and eligible exotic pets with safety and comfort as top priorities.
Dr. Ellis grew up in East Tennessee, in Roane County with lots of critters in her childhood home. After high school, Emma pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Abilene, TX. Once back home, Emma worked a couple different jobs before becoming a vet assistant and receptionist at JSAC. It was through her new job at JSAC that Emma fell in love with veterinary medicine, and was accepted into the University of Tennessee veterinary program in 2019. Throughout this time, and through most of vet school, Emma continued to work part-time on the weekends and during the summers at JSAC.
Outside of school and work, Emma enjoys spending time with Dustin and her family. She currently has 4 dogs (two of them being SARG dogs) and 4 cats at home that she adores as well. You may recognize two of them, Jasper and Chloe, from the front desk at JSAC. Emma is so excited to begin working at JSAC as a veterinarian with such familiar faces around her as she begins her career!
Dr. Allysa Upchurch received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 2014 and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UTCVM in 2022. She previously worked in small animal general practice in Knoxville and enjoys continuing to expand her knowledge in exotic animal medicine and behavior.
She is especially passionate about making visits as stress-free as possible and strengthening the bond between pets and their people. She has a full house of pets at home including three dogs and five cats. Outside of work, she loves spending time outdoors with her husband, catching movies, and planning future travels.
Fun fact: her first Barbie was the veterinarian Barbie, and she’s been on that path ever since!
When possible, we do our best to accommodate same-day visits during regular hours for pets who need prompt attention.
Most pets benefit from an annual wellness visit, while senior pets or those with ongoing conditions may need exams more frequently.
